WordPress

WordPress is a best-of-breed blogging application that has evolved into a state-of-the-art publishing platform. Quite often, we find that a client’s requirements for their web site — content management by multiple contributors, user registration, search engine optimization — match very closely with what WordPress already provides. This eliminates the need for us to develop these features coded from scratch, and saves our clients a lot of money.

WordPress’ modular architecture enables endless extensibility, and includes a vast array of features. It also includes a robust plug-in architecture, enabling all manner of custom programming to be developed and then integrated into a WordPress site.

LitmusBox has developed several custom plug-ins for WordPress. We will be releasing these soon on wordpress.org as well as our website. Our plug-ins include:

  • JS Library Loader – used to help manage the loading of js scripts and libraries across the site
  • LBCMS – a content management plugin that enhances the capabilities of WordPress by adding snippets, managed custom fields, help and tooltip creators, contextual navigation, and more.
  • Distance Proximity – used to determine distances from one loation to another using a postal database. This is perfect for sites that include widgets like store locators.
  • Image Resampler – uses a custom GDL app to resize any image on deman as well as add graphical captions/watermarks onto images and provides caching.

LitmusBox has also developed custom plugins and themes for clients to add specific business functionality to their WordPress website. Examples include:

  • Abstract submission and grading
  • Financial Feed Plugin (see demo)
